NYFW Spring/Summer 2012 Best Runway Looks

There is probably only one word to describe New York’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: whirlwind! Hours of construction and design all come down a few minutes of showing during this whirlwind week.  BeTrendMe feels like NYFW had just started and before we knew it, it is time for London Fashion Week.  Before we move across the pond for the next Fashion Week, BTM wants to recap our favorite runway looks from this past week!

There’s nothing BTM doesn’t love about Whitney Port and her line “Whitney Eve”.  She’s no longer a rookie on the fashion scene and is definitely making her mark with her custom fabric prints and sophisticated cocktail attire.  BTM loves Whitney’s free-flowing mini dress with bright and vibrant colors paired with a white vest with blue and turquoise detailing.  The model also looks amazing in her platform heels with a gold ankle cuff.

BCBGMAXAZRIA stunned BTM with the white lace and black jumpsuit – colored lace on black is super BeTrendy for this fall and we’re glad to see it will be carried over into the spring and summer seasons.  The hard shapes and cuts with light and airy fabric created the perfect balance.

Fashion Week veteran, Rachel Zoe commanded attention, opting out of her usual informal collection presentation, while her pieces took their place on the catwalk.  Zoe was inspired by Jane Birkin’s androgynous look and Talitha Getty’s “relaxed glamour”, which transpired to a beautiful collection of dresses, menswear inspired suiting, and knits.  BTM’s favorite look from Zoe’s latest collection was a pair of striped skinny pants, a lose-fit neutral tank and a striking turquoise blazer.  Top the look off with a fedora, wedge sandals, and minimal jewelry and the model looked spring ready! BTM thinks this line embodied Zoe’s character and we love what she created!

Going a little more “high-fashion” (hey, a BeTrender can dream, right?), BTM fell in love with Oscar de la Renta’s Spring/Summer line.  In particular, BTM couldn’t get enough of his bright turquoise, full-bodied skirt with a slightly higher cut in the front (to show of those perfect heels), paired with the floral embellished, off-the-shoulder tee.  This collection was fun, colorful, and bold and we definitely approve!

Finally, another huge favorite of BTM, Marc Jacobs presented his diffusion line, “Marc by Marc Jacobs”, at NYFW, which was full of bright colors, head wraps and turbands.  Clearly color is big for this spring and Jacobs took full advantage of that, using neon coral and military blue in the same collection.  Our favorite M by MJ look was the silk bottoms with a geometric print paired with a contrasting geometric print on top.  BTM loves the head wrap trend and we’re glad it’s making its way into spring 2013.

With so many great looks at this year NYFW it was hard for BTM to pick just five! What have your favorite looks been, BeTrenders? We’d love to hear your opinion!
