64th Emmy Awards Recap: Award Winners
As all you BeTrenders know The 64th Annual Emmy Award ceremonies happened on Sunday September 23rd 2012. It was an amazing event with more amazing actors and actresses present! The hit show Homeland seems to have stolen all the limelight and took a whopping six awards total with Claire Danes and Damian Lewis taking home cute little golden statues for best actress and best actor in the Drama category. But not only did the show receive those statues, it got one for outstanding writing in the drama category. It seems Homeland is this years new Mad Men. Mad Men was nominated for seventeen awards, but lost out on most of them to Homeland. Move over Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss, there’s new stars in town! Also in the Drama category, Maggie Smith won best supporting actress for her role as Violet Crawley in British drama Downton Abbey, and Aaron Paul won best supporting actor for his role as Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad. As for the Comedy category, Modern Family took home three statues. One for outstanding Comedy series and best director of a Comedy series. Sadly for Modern Family, the leads didn’t get to hold that pretty little statue, but they did get supporting actor and actress! Congrats Eric Stonestreet and Julie Bowen! The winners in lead actress and actor were Julia Louis-Dreyfus for her role as Selina Mayer in the HBO series Veep and Jon Cryer for his role as Alan Harper in the Comedy hit Two and Half Men (though BTM has always loved him since his days as Ducky in Pretty in Pink!). In other categories Julianne Moore took home best lead actress in a miniseries or movie for her role as the infamous Sarah Palin in Game Change, and Kevin Costner for best actor in a miniseries or movie his role Anse Hatfield in History Televisions series Hatfields and McCoys. American Horror Story’s Jessica Lange took home best supporting actress in a miniseries or movie. BeTrendMe congratulates all the winners of the 64th Annual Emmy Awards! Keep up all the amazing work, BTM just loves getting glued to our TV sets and watching all of you doing your jobs so well!
