Best In Show: Paris Fashion Week Roundup
As all you BeTrenders know, Paris Fashion Week is coming to close today (October 3rd 2012). This was the last of the month long insanity of continuous fashion weeks. And BeTrendMe thinks it might have been the best yet! From celebs in the front row to the collections BTM has got you covered with the Best In Show PFW Roundup! While there were tons of big names walking down runways this week, BTM has got a few faves! The Chloe Spring/Summer ’13 Ready To Wear line is so beautifully feminine with pleats, pastels and ruffles running the show. BTM just loves the colors of both of these pieces. The sheerness of the peach pleated skirt is so feminine, but it maintains the sophistication as well. As for the coral ruffled one shouldered dress, it’s so modern while maintaining a girly feel. In the front row of the Chloe show we saw actress Cécile Cassel, and Teen Vogue‘s Editor in Chief Amy Astley. Surprisingly the brand just turned 60 years old this year, but there’s no way you’d think a line this fresh and young could’ve been around for 60 years!
Next up the Christian Dior S/S ’13 RTW collection was definitely one for the books. Bringing brights and florals back into the limelight seemed to be Dior’s main goal with this collection. BTM loves the florescent yellow lining in this dress, it adds a touch of brights without completely overwhelming someone. The muted pink and yellow of this floral skirt combined with the silhouette takes our breath away. Being a major player in the fashion industry, Dior of course had the front rows reserved for some special people such as Robert De Niro, model Natalia Vodianova, and Kanye West. It was great to see Diane von Furstenberg and L’Wren Scott front row to support fellow designer Raf Simons.
With a name change from Yves Saint Laurent to just Saint Laurent comes scepticism, but fear not BeTrenders! It seems that dropping the Yves off of the name did not change the fabulous designs that come from Hedi Slimane. The Saint Laurent S/S ’13 RTW collection is one of the past it seems. Channeling the 70′s Saint Laurent incorporated a lot of suedes, leathers, fringe, and furs into the collection. BTM must say, if living in the 70′s looked this glam, build us a time machine and let’s go back! Both of these looks are amazing! The detail that has gone into both of these capes is absolutely mind blowing. And who doesn’t love a great oxblood maxi dress? Front here at Saint Laurent was Kate Moss and Salma Hayek. Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg and Alexander Wang came to check out the collection as well as support Slimane.
Chanel kept it fun and flirty with their S/S ’13 RTW collection with pieces ranging from floral, to brights, to jewel tones, to polka dots! Karl Lagerfeld kept the collection feeling like Chanel, but threw some twists in there. Adding 3D flowers to an otherwise very simple dress was definitely a great way to spice it up. Instead of just the classic tweed blazer and skirt combo, Lagerfeld mixed it up by using tweed to create a dress/blazer combo. Plus, look at the hula hoop beach bag! Sheer genius. The faces of Jennifer Lopez, Poppy Delevingne, Cécile Cassel, Erin Wasson, and Anna Dello Russo graced the front row of Chanel.
Honourable mention goes to Louis Vuitton for yet again another amazing way to put on a show. Head of House Marc Jacobs never fails to disappoint, this year having the models walk down escalators onto the runway instead of the average plain runway. Could he be any more creative?
All in all BTM must admit that this years fashion weeks have given us some amazing collections, and we can’t wait for the next ones starting in January when the designers premier their Haute Couture Collections. Don’t worry BeTrenders, we’ll keep you posted. Until then, say au-revoir to PFW and re-watch all the shows pretending you’re front row!
