Facebook Emoticons in Comments

It feels like we can’t go a week without Facebook unrolling some new feature these days. First it started with the new timeline and everything that snowballed after it, then recently users being able to promote their own posts, but now the addition of emoticons in Facebook comments! Facebook released the use of emoticons in comments today so users can integrate a whole pageful of color to their own and friends walls via comments. There are the typical smileys that we are familiar with, but users are also able to show their emotions with images of sharks, penguins, pacman, robots, and even the face of Facebook Engineer, Chris Putnam! Check out a list of shortkeys for these emoticons if you really must start using them yourself (just not on our wall please!)

So what do we think BeTrenders, is this too much of an old MySpace overload? We were happy when the days of spaces loaded up with emoticons were gone, and we can’t say we are all that excited about Facebooks additions. While a smiley or wink here or there is cute in moderation, we think too much of these yellow guys is overkill and a bit shall we say juvenile?

Let us know how you feel in the comments!
