Memorable Bond Girls + Bonus Beauty Get the Look
Bond, James Bond. The movies are always action packed and full of adventure, but one of the most memorable thing about the James Bond films would have to be the beautiful girls that Bond is involved with in every film. The newest addition to the films, “Skyfall” debuts tomorrow, (October 23rd) in London, England with the double the beauty this time around with two leading Bond Ladies – Naomi Harris, and Bérénice Marlohe. Also, in Toronto, Canada, The TIFF Bell Lightbox is showing ‘Designing 007: Fifty Years of Bond Style’, a tribute to the films throughout October to January. BeTrendMe drew inspiration from this showcase in anticipation of the London premiere and came up with some ‘Memorable Bond Girls’ of our own, and even added a bonus Beauty Get the Look!
Ursula Andress first appeared on the silver screen emerging from the sea, in that infamous white bikini as the famous independent, Jamaican shell diver Honey Ryder in 1962 alongside Sean Connery as Bond in Dr.No. Connery proceeded to be in five more Bond films until 1971, including From Russia With Love (1963), Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), You Only Live Twice (1967), and Diamonds are Forever (1971). Connery is often associated with the Bond films, and has even been the voice in some of the video games!
Britt Ekland first appeared (clad in white bikini as well) in The Man With The Golden Gun in 1974 as the bad luck stricken MI6 staffer, Mary Goodnight with Roger Moore as Bond. Moore also starred in six Bond films up until 1985, including The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Moonraker (1979), For Your Eyes Only (1981), Octopussy (1983) and A View To Kill (1985).
Next up is Halle Berry, and who could ever forget her. That orange bikini, (and body) was the envy of women everywhere. Berry made an appearance as Jinx Johnson, an agent working for the United States’ NSA, who gained her nickname from being born on Friday the 13th, in 2002 in Die Another Day, with Pierce Brosnan as Bond. Brosnan first appeared as Bond in 1995 in Golden Eye. Continuing to be Bond until 2003, his films included Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999), 007: Everything or Nothing (2003). He was also the voice in the hit video game Tomorrow Never Dies.
Last but certainly not least we have Eva Green who appeared in Casino Royale as British treasury agent, Vesper Lynd in 2006 alongside the most recent Bond, Daniel Craig. Craig as been Bond since 2006, and has been in one other movie Quantum of Solace (2008), and the newest Bond film, Skyfall (to be released in North America November 9th 2012) but has also appeared in a series of shorts, made for TV films and video games as Bond.
Each actor has brought something completely to being James Bond, but the one thing that they all have in common is their charm and their character’s impeccable taste for the ladies. If you’re a Bond fan BeTrenders, be sure to check out the films at the TIFF Bell Lightbox from October 27th to January 20th and get your fill of Bond!
While Bond is known for his impeccable charm and taste, Bond Girls are always pristine and fresh faced. We adored Eva Green in Casino Royale with her flawless skin and classic red lip. Start off with a lightweight, build-able illuminating foundation. You can put it on the whole face, or only where you feel need the coverage, like under the eyes, around the nose and on any little blemishes you may have. Next you want to get a subtle pink powder blush. With a blush brush, or a bigger fluffy brush, sweep onto your cheeks starting at the apples, and going up the cheek bone. Remember though, tap off any extra powder before applying to avoid using too much!
Now for the lips and the eyes! To get the smouldering eye use a smooth-gliding kohl eyeliner pencil.
Step 1: line the top and bottom lashes lightly to start.
Step 2: if you have a smudge brush, start in the inner corners and smudge your way out, if not, feel free to use your fingers and smudge away!
Step 3: repeat step 2 on the bottom lashes. (if you feel that you want to add some more drama to the smokey eye, darken up the liner and repeat steps 2 and 3.)
Step 4: Apply several coats of volumizing mascara.
For the lips, find a red lipstick that suites your complexion. For this look choose a creamy matte formula. Start with applying to your bottom lip first. Once you have the bottom lip completely covered, rub your lips together like you would if you’re applying lip balm, that way you’ll be able to transfer the color to your top lip, without over applying. If you find that you need to add a little more on your top lip, go right ahead until both lips are even.
And voila! You’ve got the look of Vesper Lynd and one that any guy (Bond or not) would fall for!
