Halloween: Group Costumes
In case you’re going out with a group of friends this Halloween, why not try an easy to make group costume? A few of BTMinterns done group costumes over the years and they’ve always turned out. So we’ve found some easy to assemble AND inexpensive options for you and your friends to do for Halloween!
Objects
Loofahs
There are so many shades to pick from, you and your friends will have a blast just deciding on which color you want to be! To make it yourself, start with a bodysuit or strapless tube dress, pick up 15 yards of matte net (in a matching color to your suit), get a 12/32 inch cord and a 60 pack of safety pins. For assembling, cut the matte netting into 15 pieces roughly the same size, take one of those pieces and wrap it around your dress/suit. Safety-pin it down, but not too tight! Gather and bunch the remaining pieces of netting and sporadically pin them down along the dress/suit. Tame the loose ends with scissors and take those peaks and pinch them pinning them down to the underneath layers. Add a rope to the outfit and pin down the ends. If you can believe it, your outfit is done!!
M & M’s
Another adorable group costume would be for you and your friends to dress up as M & M’s (or Skitties or Smarties same idea). STart with a couple of yards of colorful felt, some white felt for the M (or S) black tights and white gloves. To get the right looking M use Times New Roman font in size 750 for a lowercase m to get it right! For more instructions click here.
Crayola Crayons
Still playing on the group theme of colors, why not try out the box of crayons costume? It’s another super cute option for your friends that is relatively easy to make. Click here to learn how to!
Cartoons
Mario Kart Party
BeTrenders, you remember Mario Kart right? Our BTMinterns are feeling super nostalgic so we thought we’d include the N64 game characters are a group option. It really is an original idea for you and you buds. You can dress up like Princess Peach, Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Yoshi, Wario, etc. There are 8 options to choose from, but we think that this group costume works best when you have the majority of the characters covered. You can pick up the costumes pre-made from any costume shop and add some balloons and cars or can make it from scratch. Click here for the DIY option!
Treasure Trolls
Start with a skin colored body suit, safety pins, large jewel or bunch of jewels to bedazzle (diamond, star, heart, circle, oval) spray on hair color, and add some colourful matte net (to match your hair and jewel of course) for a tutu. To assemble, start safety pinning the tutu onto the lower half of the body suit. Glue on your big jewel (or many small gems) to the centre (think bellybutton) of the costume. Spray some color into your hair and you’re done.
Scooby Doo & The Gang
The always timeless 80′s classic Scooby Doo is a great option for groups. The outfits for Thelma, Shaggy, Scooby, Fred and Daphne are super easy to make it’s a great last minute option. If you’re looking for help on how to create these looks, click here.
